近期，山东大学郭常予教授与合作者在一类高阶几何变分偏微分方程组正则性问题研究中取得进展。相关系列工作，彻底解决了国际数学家大会(ICM)报告人、ICM 2018选拔委员会委员Tristan Riviere 教授2011年于国际变分法与PDE会议上提出来的一个公开预测，
并部分解决了ICM报告人、2014年Fields奖选拔委员会委员Michael Struwe 教授在[Cal. Var. PDEs 2008]提出来的一个公开问题。
      郭常予教授的主要研究领域是单复变、偏微分方程和非光滑分析。
