Abstract: A local holomorphic version of the inverse scattering transform enables us to construct all local holomorphic solutions of soliton equations of parabolic type and study their properties. In particular, we prove that every such solution extends to a global meromorphic function of the spatial variable. We also describe all integrable evolution equations with weighted homogeneous right-hand side all of whose local holomorphic solutions possess this forced analytic extension property.
