Abstract: The report will overview recent and older results related to the classical Grothendieck inequality. Applications of these results in functional analysis and computer science will be discussed.
Bio: Boris Kashin is a Principal Researcher at the Steklov Mathematical Insititute of RAS, Head of the Department of Function Theory, and Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences. He is also the Head of the Department of Function Theory and Functional Analysis of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics, Lomonosov Moscow State University. Boris Kashin graduated from the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics, Lomonosov Moscow State University in 1973 and received a Doctor of Sciences degree at the Steklov Mathematical Insititute in 1977. His research interests include orthogonal series, convex geometry, operator theory and approximation theory.
