On April 15th, 2019, the four-member delegation from the Department of Mathematical Mechanics of Moscow University visited Peking University. Vice president Tian Gang met with the delegation in Linhuxuan. The Russian delegation also visited School of Mathematical Sciences of Peking University and held a discussion.

Tian Gang welcomed the delegation's visit and pointed out that Peking University and Moscow State University have always maintained close cooperative relations. At the end of March, Moscow State University held an international seminar on "Society, Humanity and the Future", and Peking University was lucky to participate, further strengthening the cooperation and exchanges between the two universities. The delegation of the Department of Mathematics will cooperate in the field of mathematics and further carry out substantive international exchanges. Fan Huijun, director of the Department of Mathematics of School of Mathematical Sciences, Li Zhi, professor of School of Engineering, and Zheng Ruqing, vice minister of International Cooperation, attended the meeting.

The Russian delegation visited School of Mathematical Sciences. President Chen Dayue, party secretary Hu Jun, vice president Shi Yuguang, head of the Department of Mathematics Fan Huijun and relevant teachers attended the meeting. Chen Dayue elaborated on the development process, organization, scientific research, teaching, future development objectives and challenges of School of Mathematical Sciences of Peking University. Alexander Ivanov, deputy director of the Department of Mathematical Mechanics of Moscow University, gave an overview of the department. The two sides exchanged views on the plan of building the Sino-Russian Mathematics Joint Laboratory at Peking University. During the talks, the two sides reached a consensus on mutual visits of teachers and students and bilateral teaching, and carried out cooperation in the fields of geometry and mathematical physics, algebra and geometric topology. The Sino-Russian joint mathematics conferences will be held regularly every year. It is hoped that the two universities will further carry out substantive exchanges and cooperation, expand cooperation in more research fields in the future, and conduct in-depth discussions on the joint training of postdoctoral and graduate students.
